PART ONE

Designing the Future: An A/E Industry Visioning Sprint

Housing shortages, climate pressures, and rapid technological change are reshaping the world around us. In this interactive session, participants will look 15 years ahead to imagine how architects and engineers can lead solutions to society’s most pressing challenges and collectively define the future industry we want to build.

PART TWO

Designing the Future Firm

Building on the vision created in Part 1, this session looks ahead to what the architecture firm might become over the next 15 years to realize our potential impact. Groups will explore how practice models may evolve, what expertise firms will need, how our business and fee structures will adapt, and how firms can more clearly articulate the value they bring to clients, communities, and the built environment. The conversation will focus on how the industry can adapt while continuing to advance design excellence. We will conclude with a collective synthesis of near term changes we can make to catalyze this long term vision.

TOMMASO BITOSSI

Partner, Transsolar KlimaEngineering

Tommaso focuses on two aspects of climate responsive design: architecture and climate engineering based on his professional value of ‘sufficiency before efficiency‘. Tommaso deeply believes that a decision-making process based on a solid engineered and out-of-the-box thinking leads to resource conscious solutions and high quality built environments. It is important to him to keep environmental impacts such as CO2 emissions as low as possible in all projects.

His unique perspective on the integrated design process together with his understanding of both the architectural and the engineering approaches facilitate the communication of complex strategies to the design team. He is committed to education with the goal of helping the next generation rethink how to combat climate change and conserve the planet's limited resources.
